The City of Lancaster is pleased to offer the 2018 Summer Program for summer work experience to eligible students. Students who are City residents are encouraged to apply for the positions listed below.
Summer jobs are located throughout the City, especially in the Public Works department; much of it is outdoors.
Important Information to consider when applying:
– Candidates must be able to work the entire schedule.
– Sports camps and band camps cannot be accommodated

| Parks Assistant | Longs Park | 7:00am-3:30pm (May 7/June 18 – August 10) includes weekends (2 per month) *Requires a driver’s license. | Mowing, mulching, weed whacking, laboring, animal care | Driver’s license background checks will be performed. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to work entire summer schedule without accommodations |
| Hydrant Assistant | Water T&D | 7:00 am-3:00 pm (June 18 – August 10) Does not require a driver’s license. | Painting fire hydrants, general labor work | Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. |
| Property Assistant | Parks | 7:00 am-3:30 pm (June 18 – August 10) Does not require a driver’s license. | Mowing, mulching, weed whacking, laboring | Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to work entire summer schedule without accommodations |
| Meter Assistant | Meter Shop | 7:45 am-4:15 pm (June 18 – August 10) *Requires a driver’s license | Reading meters , data entry, assisting with service, installing meters | Driver’s license background checks will be performed. |
To be eligible, the applicant must be:
– A student (either high school or college)
– 16 years of age or over (with working permit if necessary)
– The City is especially interested in qualified City residents.
Hourly rate of pay will be as follows:
