What We Do
The arts are vital to Lancaster’s distinctive identity and are valued as an important contributor to the community’s character, quality of life, and economy. The Office of Public art builds community capacity for arts and culture activities through outreach and education efforts, by organizing business and cultural opportunities for local artists; and by bringing together arts and culture stakeholders – creators, consumers, and facilitators – to converse, innovate, and implement public art. Through these efforts, the Office of Public Art fosters the creation and collection of artworks that create pathways for meaningful conversation, evoke emotion, tell the story of our culture and our identities, create a sense of belonging, attract interest, and enhance pride in the City of Lancaster.
