Lead Hazard Control Program

The Lead Hazard Control Program helps Lancaster City homeowners, landlords, and tenants make their homes safer by addressing lead-based paint and contaminated soil.

Once an application is approved, trained and licensed City staff conduct a lead inspection and risk assessment to identify areas that need remediation.

Lead hazard control work may include replacing windows, doors, porch floors, and stair flooring; repainting or installing new trim; enclosing porch ceilings with vinyl; and adding new sod, mulch, or turf in yard play areas. Work is limited to items that test positive for lead.
