The Lancaster City Bureau of Fire will begin accepting applications on April 1 for the 2025 recruitment cycle. Recruitment is open to U.S. citizens age 18 and older who have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid motor vehicle license.
Applications and testing will take place over a seven-month period. Applications will be accepted through April 30.
An optional information session will be held at 6 p.m. on April 9 at Southern Market, 100 S. Queen St. A virtual information session will also be available for those who cannot attend in person.
Applicants must also complete a written exam by May 31. Top-scoring candidates will be invited to an in-person interview in June or July. Those who pass the interview will advance to a physical fitness testing process which begins in August. Candidates who pass all stages of the hiring process will be placed on an eligibility list, which may be used to fill future openings as they become available over the next two years.
Preference points are offered to U.S. veterans, Lancaster city residents, and bilingual candidates.
