Age-Friendly City
Age-Friendly Lancaster City is an opportunity to bring people of all ages together to rethink our neighborhoods and take action to make them more inclusive and respectful of every generation. By aligning with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Age-Friendly Cities and Communities’ Framework, Lancaster is joining forward focused cities across the United States and around the world.
Demographics
According to the Lancaster County Office of Aging’s Four Year Area Plan, in Lancaster County the proportion of individuals over 60 years old has been rising gradually for 15 or more years, and will continue to do so through 2060, due in part largely to the aging baby boomer population.
Lancaster City, ranking eighth in population among the cities of Pennsylvania, has a population of 58,981 people, as of the 2020 census; 9.8% of residents are ages 65+.
